As the head of Katz Whistleblower Law, Rebecca Katz has dedicated over 30 years to representing defrauded investors and protecting whistleblowers who expose corporate misconduct. Formerly senior counsel for the SEC’s Enforcement Division, Rebecca has been at the forefront of the field since the inception of the SEC Whistleblower Program under the Dodd-Frank Act in 2010. She has secured over $160 million in total awards for her clients, including the second largest award ever granted to a whistleblower.

Rebecca’s career demonstrates both a deep commitment to justice and a remarkable ability to help whistleblowers and investors confront corporate fraud. She has successfully represented both U. S. and foreign clients in navigating the intricacies of the SEC whistleblower process—from investigating and assessing claims, filing of initial complaints, assisting in agency investigations, and securing final monetary awards.

She works closely with a wide range of whistleblowers, including C-Suite executives, mid-level managers, and junior staff across all industries. Her strategic legal counsel prioritizes strict confidentiality and protection for those reporting fraud to government enforcement agencies, including the SEC, Department of Justice (DOJ), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Beyond her renowned whistleblower advocacy, Rebecca’s experience includes litigating complex securities fraud cases. Over the course of her career, she has held senior leadership and partnership roles at prominent plaintiffs’ litigation firms, including nearly a decade leading Motley Rice’s SEC Whistleblower Practice.

Rebecca frequently speaks at national legal conferences and shares her perspectives on whistleblower programs and securities litigation with leading media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Reuters, Bloomberg Law, The National Law Journal, and Law360. Her thought leadership continues to shape the dialogue around fraud prevention and corporate transparency.

Rebecca serves on the Financial Fraud Committee for The Anti-Fraud Coalition (TAF), a nonprofit organization that empowers whistleblowers and combats fraud in financial markets. Her contributions extend to academia as well; she is a published author, a former faculty member at the Practising Law Institute’s Securities Litigation & Enforcement Institute and has lectured at Fordham University School of Law’s Eugene P. and Delia S. Murphy Conference on Corporate Law.

A former member of the Hofstra Law Review, Rebecca earned her law degree from Hofstra University School of Law. Her career reflects not only her passion for justice but also her profound impact on whistleblower law and corporate accountability.
